Classroom Environment

I think it is incredibly important to create an environment in my classroom that provides comfort and a sense of home. I do this through many different ways: using calm colors, having everything organized and accessible to students, providing a variety of comfortable seating options, and setting up spaces that encourage the sharing of tools, materials, and ideas. Most importantly, I believe that students should feel that they are all represented in the space. Books from all backgrounds and cultures are readily availble, pictures of family are on the wall, and students are encouraged to bring in items from home to help decorate the space.
